Leaf-Chronicle A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died June 15 when his mounted patrol came under small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire in the Shigalwashheltan district of Kunar province, Afghanistan. Spc. Benjamin D. Osborn, 27, of Queensbury, N.Y., was an infantryman assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, according to a news release from Fort Campbell. He joined the Army in April 2007 and arrived at Fort Campbell in August 2009. His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal National Defense Service Medal Iraqi Campaign Medal Global War on Terrorism Service Medal Army Service Ribbon Overseas Service Ribbon Combat Infantry Badge Driver and Mechanic Badge (driver/wheeled vehicle) and Weapons Qualification, M4, expert.
