Incident: Army Chief Warrant Officer Aaron A. Weaver was killed Jan. 8 while on board a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter when it crashed during a Medevac mission in Fallujah, Iraq.

Died: January 08, 2004

Rebounding from testicular cancer, Chief Warrant Officer Aaron Weaver could have stayed put at Fort Bragg when his unit shipped out to Iraq last year. But that wasn�t like him. Weaver, 32, of Inverness, Fla., had worked hard to get himself back into shape after cancer surgery in 2002, and got a special medical clearance to fly his OH-58 observer helicopter in Iraq, his father, Mike Weaver said.

�He wanted to go to Iraq,� his father said. �When you�re in a group like that, you don�t want your friends to leave you behind.�

Weaver was on a Black Hawk helicopter en route to Baghdad for a checkup when the craft was shot down south of Fallujah, Iraq. The Jan. 8 crash killed eight other soldiers. As an Army Ranger, Weaver survived the October 1993 battle of...

I was so touched by the story I read in the paper about Aaron and his brothers, that I just wanted to send his family my condolences. My father is also in Bushnell and everytime I visit my dad, I also vist Aaron and leave flowers for him. Aaron, may you rest in peace and God bless your family..

Phil worked for me when he volunteered to deploy to Iraq with the Joint Contracting Command. He was a great officer, a great friend and an incredible husband/father. He was just a couple of days away from returning from his deployment. I received an email from him on 5 April requesting to stay a bit longer so he could finish the job started. I had not yet responded to his email when I was notified by our Commanding Office on Easter morning that Phil had been killed. Miss you Phil!
